I couldn't find anything about more boys than normal being born in advance of wars, but there is something called the "returning soldier effect," which was really interesting. Here is a link to one article http://www.psychologytoday.com/em/98 but I found several others about men with more brothers than sisters having more male sons than daughters. Anyway, I am a strict pacifist, so I certainly want to avoid my son (or anyone's son) serving in any wars! Probably more than you wanted to know, but I just thought I would share.
